The ED2-0023 from ED2 Corp is a 4-Channel System-in-Package (SiP) Phased Array Module (PAM) that operates at 28 GHz in the 5G NR n257-Band. It consists of 2x2 radiating elements with the Renesas F5288 beamforming half-duplex transceiver. On the Tx side, this PAM delivers an output power of 14.5 dBm with a gain from 42-47.5 dB, while on the Rx side, it provides a gain of 18 dB and has a noise figure of 4.9 dB. It has a switching time of 100 ns (Tx/Rx mode) and a phase error of 1.4° on all four channels.
The core Renesas IC provides highly flexible gain and phase control on each channel to achieve fine beam steering and gain compensation between the radiating channels. It supports a standard SPI protocol that operates up to 65 MHz and offers fast beam switching and beam-state loading.
The ED2-0023 requires a DC supply from 2.4 to 2.6 V and 3 to 3.3 V. It is available in a BGA package that measures 10.0 x 10.0 x 1.0 mm and is ideal for 5G phased-array antenna systems and beam steering applications.
