The SUMMIT 3741 from MixComm is a 5G mmWave Beamforming Front-End IC that operates from 37 to 41 GHz. It integrates novel power amplifiers, low noise amplifiers, T/R switching, beamformers, calibration, gain control, beam table memory, temperature and power telemetry, and high-speed SPI control for a front-end module with optimal partitioning for 5G infrastructure. The IC features enhanced and cutting-edge digital integration, uniquely enabled by the GLOBALFOUNDRIES® (GF®) 45RFSOI process, which has inherent advantages over other semiconductor technologies formmWave applications. It is suitable for Antenna-in-Package (AiP) implementations, as well as conventional chip-on-board integration through the use of interposers.
The SUMMIT 3741 has four-element dual-polarization Tx/Rx and offers independent dual-polarization beam directions. It includes a 6-bit 360° phase shifter and provides variable gain up to 16 dB (0.5 dB steps) in each path. The IC operates on 1V, 1.8V and 4V power supplies and has ultra-low Tx and Rx power consumption. It is available as a flip-chip die with 75μm bump size and 200μm bump pitch, and has a 100 MHz SPI with 2048-entry on-chip beam table storage.
