The OTBF103 from Otava is a half-duplex, 8-channel Tx/Rx TDD Beamformer IC that operates from 24 to 40 GHz. The transmit mode takes a single input to eight outputs, where each channel has an individual phase and gain adjustment controls. The Receive mode consists of eight individually controllable phase and gain inputs to one combined output. A bypass path is implemented in each LNA which can be used for system calibration. It is developed on 90 nm SiGe BiCMOS process.
The design of this IC enables inclusion of high performance PA or LNA components external to the chip. Eight negative bias voltage interface drivers are included to control the external amplifiers along with eight switch drivers for external T/R switch control inside the chip. It has an 8-bit ADC for temperature and RMS power detection. The IC is available as a bare die that measures 9.8 x 4.2 mm and is suitable for use in n257, n258, n260, n261 NR small cell, electronic warfare, SATCOM, and radar applications.
