The F5268 from Renesas is an 8-Channel Tx/Rx Beamformer IC that operates in 5G NR n258/n261 bands from 24.25 to 27.5 GHz. It provides a linear output power of 15.5 dBm with a gain attenuation range of 30.5 dBm. This silicon-based transceiver is designed using a SiGe BiCMOS process for dual-polarization 5G phased-array applications. The core IC has highly flexible gain and phase control on each channel to achieve fine beam steering and gain compensation between radiating channels. It requires a 2.5 V analog supply and a selectable 2.5V/3.3V PA supply to provide dual TX power modes.
The F5268 has 2048 on-chip programmable beam states and a high-speed SPI interface with RapidBeam technology. It features a bandgap generator, an internal temperature sensor, and a power detector. The IC is available in an FCCSP package that measures 5.1 x 5.1 x 0.8 mm and is ideal for 5G single/dual-polarization phased-array antenna system and beam steering applications.
