The F6122 from Renesas is a 16-Channel Dual-beam Rx Active Beamforming IC that operates from 17.7 to 21.2 GHz. It has eight RF input ports, two RF output ports, and 16 (8 per beam) phase/amplitude control channels. Each channel has a 6-bit digital phase and gains control resolution spanning 360° and 28 dB of dynamic range that enables precise beam pattern and polarization control. The eight input ports of the IC support eight single-polarized elements or four dual-polarized elements of an electronically scanned array (ESA). It has an IDAC for external LNA biasing, a temperature sensor with digital readout, and temperature compensation functionality. This Beamforming IC has advanced digital modes and large on-chip beam-state memory that enables beam position switching times of less than 100 ns and greatly reduced dead time & latency. It can be controlled via control pins and SPI Bus interfaces.
The F6122 is available in an FC-BGA organic package that measures 3.8 x 4.6 x 0.9 mm and requires a DC supply of 2.3 V. It is ideal for use in phased array antennas, K/Ka-Band SATCOM Terminals, aerospace, maritime, and SOTM applications.
