The SSG22645LX from Z-Communications is a Smart PLL Frequency Synthesizer that generates frequencies from 45 MHz to 22.6 GHz. It features two independently-controlled output channels with a power range from -20 to +7dB and a phase noise of -117 dBc/Hz (@100 kHz offset). This synthesizer has 3 frequency sweep modes – single sweep, repeat sweep (continuous), and cycle sweep – each with frequency start/stop, step size, and dwell time. It includes a 100 MHz internal reference and also allows users to utilize their preferred 100 MHz reference via an external input port. The synthesizer requires a DC supply of 5 V (USB-powered) and consumes less than 800 mA of current.
The SSG22645LX allows the control of all functions through a smartphone app using Bluetooth (iOS and Android), or through a Windows PC via a USB-C power port. Each unit may be uniquely named using either interface, with all settings displayed on the screen, and also includes a series of LEDs that provide a visual cue of functions such as power, lock indication, and Bluetooth connection. For advanced users planning to use this frequency synthesizer in automated test set ups with LabVIEW or other programs, advanced commands through UART are provided. It is available in a compact metal enclosure and is suitable for in-field and benchtop use in lab and production test setup, frequency conversion, signal generator, test and measurement, radar, and SATCOM applications.
