The SKY58281-21 from Skyworks Solutions is a Front-End Module (FEM) for 4G LTE and 5G NR applications. It consists of an integrated power amplifier (PA), single-ended filters, band select switches, low noise amplifiers (LNA), aMIPI standard digital control block, and an antenna. This FEM utilizes an enhanced architecture that covers multiple bands and meets the spectral linearity and EVM requirements of CP-OFDM and DFTS-OFDM modulations up to 256-QAM. It supports 2x2 UL-MIMO using two Tx placements and fast SRS hopping timing requirements.
The SKY58281-21 supports MIMO along the Rx path in the n77, n78, n79 bands and delivers high output power, which enables PC2 support in these bands. This module can control the output power by varying the input power and adjusting the supply voltage to maximize efficiency. It includes up to seven gain modes in the LNAs and provides independent gain and bias control for high performance. This FEM ensures a very low leakage in power-down mode, thereby maximizing the handset’s standby time. It is available in an (LGA) package that measures 4.5 x 5.5 x 0.7 mm and is ideal for n77/n79 downlink carrier aggregation support, Bands B42, B43, B48, n77, and n78 and multi-band 4G/5G handset applications.
