The CMP961x from California Eastern Laboratories (CEL) are 2.4/5 GHz Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth 5.2, and 802.15.4 wireless combo modules. These modules support 802.15.4 Thread (IP-based mesh networking), Matter, and Zigbee protocols and allow co-existence support for dual/tri-radio protocols, enabling multiple networks and applications. They operate in multiple Wi-Fi operational modes that include STA, AP, Wi-Fi Direct, or their combinations. The modules support Bluetooth 5.2 operating modes such as BT Classic, BLE (2 Mbps), LE Audio, BT Long Range, and HCI. They integrate CEL’s newly patented dual-band PCB trace and all-terrain antenna for best-in-class range and coverage, therefore enhancing throughput, lower latency, reduced power consumption, faster OTA firmware updates, and better network reliability.
The CMP961x includes HOST driver source code that is pre-tested and integrated in NXP’s iMX 6/7/8 SDKs while also supporting other MPUs. They support Linux and FreeRTOS operating systems and offer data protection with WPA3 standards. These modules are available in Land Grid Array (LGA) packages that measure 16.64 x 27.80 x 3.47 mm with MHF4 connectors and are ideal for smart cities, smart homes, IP cameras, connected tools, building automation, retail, POS terminals, medical devices, and healthcare applications.
