The NCV-RSL15 from onsemi is a Bluetooth 5.2 Wireless System-on-Chip (SoC) that has been designed for IoT and deeply embedded applications that require high performance, power efficiency, and security. It consists of ARM Cortex-M33 MCU (memory and protection features), RF front-end, 512 KB flash memory, 64 KB RAM memory, power management, clock management, protection circuits, memory management, and programmable interfaces. This module requires a DC supply from 1.2 to 3.6 V, and consumes 4.3 mA of current in Tx mode, and 2.7 mA of current in Rx mode.
The NCV-RSL15 uses an ARM Cortex processor to execute high-performance applications such as floating point unit (FPU), DSP extensions, and memory protection/management. The processor uses secure boot ROM to authenticate firmware in flash memory with a certificate-based mechanism using a private-public key scheme. It also ensures continuity of the hardware Root of Trust after a secure firmware-over-the-air (FOTA) update. This module features a radio front-end that implements the physical layer for the Bluetooth low energy standard and supports up to 10 simultaneous connections with a data rate from 62.5 to 2000 Kbps.
The power management unit of this module allows for a wide range of battery voltages without the need for external power conversion and embeds a DC-DC converter that operates either in Buck mode or LDO mode operation. It uses flexible clock management that allows different clock sources to be used in power-efficient ways and to minimize the number of external components. This module also includes a software development kit (SDK) that contains Eclipse-based onsemi’s IDE with support for other industry standard development platforms.
The NCV-RSL15 is available in a surface-mount package that measures 5.90 x 5.90 mm and is ideal for seat belt detection, time pressure monitoring systems, tire monitoring system, and smart vehicle access applications.
