The PAN1781 from Panasonic is a Bluetooth 5.0 Low Energy (LE) Module that provides advanced wireless connectivity in a small package. The module delivers a data rate of up to 2 Mbps with Tx power up to 8 dBm and Rx sensitivity of -103 dBm. It is based on the Nordic nRF52820 SoC featuring a 64 MHz ARM Cortex-M4 with embedded 256 kB flash memory and 32 kB internal RAM. It has a 128-bit AES/ECB/CCM/AAR co-processor, on-module DC/DC and LDO regulators with automated low current mode and a built-in temperature sensor. This module supports LE 2M, LE long range coded, LE advertising extensions Bluetooth PHY protocols along with angle of arrival (AoA) and angle of departure (AoD) direction-finding.
The PAN1781 requires a DC supply from 1.7-5.5 V, consumes under 4.9 mA of current in Tx mode and 4.7 mA of current in Rx mode. It can be controlled via GPIO, UART, SPI, I2C, USB 2.0 and QDEC interfaces. The module is available in an SMT module that measures 15.6 x 8.7 x 2 mm. It is ideal for smart home, industrial and IoT applications.
