The DW3300Q from Qorvo is an Ultra-Wideband (UWB) Transceiver IC that supports UWB channels 5 and 9 (6489.6 MHz and 7987.2 MHz). It is compliant with IEEE STD 802.15.4-2020 and IEEE STD 802.15.4z-2020 (BPRF mode) for automotive applications. This UWB transceiver delivers a data rate of up to 6.8 Mbps and has a ranging accuracy of up to 10 cm. It is AEC-Q100 grade 2 qualified and supports secure Time-of-Flight using STS. The transceiver supports single-sided and double-sided two-way ranging (SS and DS TWR), Time Difference of Arrival (TDoA) and Phase Difference of Arrival (PDoA) location schemes.
The DW3300Q consists of an RF front-end that amplifies the received signal using a low-noise amplifier before down-converting it directly to the baseband. It features integrated HW AES 256 encryption and conforms to the Car Connectivity Consortium Specification Double Sided (DS) TWR. This UWB transceiver supports secure ranging/distance measurement using STS (Scrambled-Timestamp) and can provide precision location and data transfer simultaneously.
This transceiver provides a Tx power of up to -33.5 dBm and has an Rx sensitivity of -98 dBm. It requires a DC supply from 2.4 to 3.6 V and consumes less than 86 mA of current. It is available in an LGA package that measures 5.16 x 5.16 mm and can be controlled via an SPI interface. The DW3300Q is ideal for automotive applications like precision Real Time Location Systems (RTLS) using SS-TWR, DS-TWR, TDoA or PDoA schemes, presence detection for secure entry and secure payment, child/passenger presence detection, occupancy sensing, parking spot detection and positioning for electrical vehicle wireless charging, location-aware wireless sensor networks, car connectivity consortium vehicle access and FiRa Consortium use cases like smart cities and mobility (parking garages, V2X, ticket validation, etc.).
