300 MHz to 3.8 GHz, Dual Down Converter Mixer Series With Integrated Amplifiers and Baluns

RF Mixers from Texas Instruments Inc.

The new dual-channel down-converting mixer family matches the performance of existing solutions at half the power consumption. The mixers can be used in diversity receive, multi-antenna and high-performance applications, such as phased-array radar, wireless base stations, RF backhaul and repeaters, and test and measurement. They operate from 300 MHz to 3800 MHz with a 29 dBm IIP3, 10 dB gain and 9.5 dB noise figure. These mixers use 500 mW of power per channel.

The RF Gain Blocks from TI are general purpose gain blocks with a broadband frequency range from 1 MHz to 6 GHz. They operate at 3.3 V and 5 V with a gain of up to 20 dB and OIP3 of 10 dBm. The amplifiers are available in a compact 2 x 2 mm QFN package with an integrated power down that eliminates the need for an external switch. These devices can be used in many industrial, communications and defense applications, such as smart meters, test and measurement, wireless base stations, RF backhaul, repeaters, and phased-array radar.

The ADF5355 is a microwave wideband synthesizer with an integrated VCO. The mixer has a conversion loss of 8 dB, LO/RF Isolation of 43 dB and LO/IF Isolation of 20 dBm. It has a P1dB of 3 to 9 dBm and an IP3 of 13 to 19 dBm. The ML1-1050 is available as a wire bondable chip or a 2.4 mm connectorized package. It is an excellent alternative to Marki Microwave M9 mixers packaged in drop-in carriers such as the ES carrier.
