Israeli Defence Selects Elbit Systems for Satellite-On-the-Move Systems

Elbit Systems has received contract to provide the Israeli Ministry of Defense (IMOD) with dozens of Satellite-On-The-Move (SOTM) Systems. Elbit Systems will provided these systems to IMOD over a two-year period.

Satellite-Communications-on-the-Move (SOTM) systems are basically a system of satellite antennas established over vehicles so as to enable communications with a satellite and maintain that communication while the vehicle is moving. Modern Military Operations often employ commercial satellites to fulfill theater capacity requirements. However, as modern warfare is highly asymmetric and mobile, military units desire a SATCOM-on-the-move system. Elbit will be providing IMOD with its popular SOTM family of ELSAT 2100.
