The APN228 is a GaN HEMT broadband amplifier from Northrop Grumman for use in SatCom Terminals and Point to Point digital radio applications. It operates from 27 to 31 GHz with a linear gain of 19.5 dB and a Psat of 41.2 dBm. The amplifier requires a 28 V DC supply and draws a 1.2 A current. It is available as a die which is 16 sq. mm in size and is fully passivated to ensure ruggedness. Both bond pad and backside metallization are Au-based that is compatible with epoxy and eutectic die attach methods.
