Spirent Introduces 802.11 WLAN Tester for Multi-Client Emulation Scenarios

WLAN TesterSpirent Communications has announced the availability of Spirent TestCenter WLAN test capability, with the highest-performing and most realistic 802.11 wireless local area network (WLAN) multi-client emulation scenarios available on the market.

Spirent TestCenter WLAN is used for functionality and performance testing of Access Points (APs) and end-to-end testing of WLAN ecosystems that include WLAN access controllers and gateways. It emulates a large number of realistic WLAN clients through both in-chassis Ethernet and WLAN test ports.

There are more than a dozen applications for Spirent TestCenter WLAN including:

  • Multi-client WLAN network testing
  • Verification of personal and enterprise security
  • Baseline testing for traffic throughput, TCP goodput, forwarding rate and latency performance
  • RFC-style testing with a large number of clients across APs through the WLAN RF interface

Users expect Wi-Fi technologies to be ubiquitous. The emergence of Wi-Fi technologies like 802.11ac allow network equipment manufacturers (NEMs) and network operators to scale up their Wi-Fi access points to carrier-grade and enterprise-grade technology, improving capacity, performance, reliability, and security.

The Spirent TestCenter is an end-to-end testing solution utilized by service providers, NEMs and enterprises to test and validate their networks. It includes traditional performance testing as well as detailed tests of virtualization, cloud, mobile backhaul and high-speed Ethernet.

Spirent TestCenter WLAN enables users to quickly and efficiently validate and optimize the performance and scalability of WLAN infrastructure equipment. Basic WLAN control plane and data plane features, along with the network traffic and throughput performance test cases, are supported over the WLAN network. The test platform offers investment protection for clients, including flexible configurations and easy upgrades to address different testing needs and requirements.
