The P9418 from Renesas is a highly-integrated single-chip 60 W wireless power transmitter/receiver IC (TRx). The IC can be configured to receive or transmit an AC power signal through magnetic induction.
As a wireless power transmitter, the IC consists of a full/half-bridge inverter, a pulse-width modulation (PWM) generator, a modulator/demodulator for communication, and a microcontroller to produce an AC power signal to drive an external L-C tank. As a wireless power receiver, the IC receives an AC power signal from a wireless transmitter and converts it to a rectified output voltage. It integrates a highly efficient synchronous full bridge rectifier and control circuitry that modulates the load to send message packets to the transmitter.
The P9418 consists of multiple-time programmable (MTP) non-volatile memory that can easily update and control firmware and device functions. It supports I2C and GPIO interfaces and is embedded with over-temperature and voltage protection circuits. This WPC 1.2.4/1.3 compliant IC is available in an ultra-small 70-WLCSP package that measures 2.82 x 4.22 x 0.50 mm.
